Our Stories, Our Voices (Adults)
Our Stories, Our Voices explores communities’ creative voices through stories and art work. The project is open for the adults in the communities of Greater Pollok and Newlands/Auldburn. With creative storytelling activities we aim to positively impact on our participants’ wellbeing, raising their sense of purpose, belonging to the community and pride of living in the area. We explore creative ways to meet new people and learn new skills for anyone who loves stories, art and crafts, and wants to connect with other adults in the area. We foster friendships and use a positive and fun approach to the stories of people and places.
Current Groups
Voices of Peace
A weekly workshop for women refugees, asylum seekers and new Scots. Through storytelling, art and movement the group share their love of their native lands, the sights, the sounds and the smells; lament in what they have lost or left behind; and explore their stories to heal and to move forward. The group listens and tells traditional and personal stories, true and imagined ones to shape their vision of a future of hope and peace. This is a nurturing, supportive workshop led by women with lived experience as new Scots. The group is open to participants from anywhere in Glasgow.
Oh The Stories We Could Tell
A Book of Stories, Poems & Sparks
In 2022-2023, our three groups met weekly where they shared stories, created artwork and even performed some of their work publicly. This book was created with love, to showcase their work and inspire imagination, celebrating the words of women across Glasgow. Click here to read the full book.
